FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is the official site for applying for any financial aid. you can also obtain your Personal Identification Number (PIN) at this site. Vantage counselors recommend that you file your FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan 1st to ensure the best opportunity to receive the most money.

FAFSA4caster - A new online tool to help students and families prepare financially for college before a student's senior year. This site provides juniors with an early estimate of their eligibility for federal financial aid.

FINANCIAL AID FROM BGSU - This free service provides answers to questions about paying for college. Information provided ranges from basic overall financial aid information to more detailed and specific information on how to complete the FAFSA, eligibility, loans, grants, etc. This is provided by Bowling Green State University.

FEDERAL AID HELP - This is an awesome tool to help you with your financial aid. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and put together by students. This is a must see site.

Myths About Financial Aid:

  1. "... my parents make too much money, so I won't qualify for aid." TRUTH: There is no income cut-off to qualify for federal student aid. Many factors beside income are taken into account.
  2. "... only students with good grades get financial aid."
    TRUTH: While a high grade point average will help a student get into a good school and may help with academic scholarships, most of the federal student aid programs do not take into consideration a student's grades.
  3. "... the form is too hard to fill out." TRUTH: The FAFSA is easier than ever, especially if you fill it out online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. There are detailed instructions for every question, and the form walks you through step by step.
