ABLE/GED

ABLE/ GED® PREPARATION     

Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) and  General Educational Development (GED® ) diploma,  also known as Ohio High School Equivalence Diploma

The ABLE program is designed to assist any adults who wish to strengthen their academic skills. Many adults attend ABLE classes to refresh and improve their skills prior to entering college, for employment-related training or to prepare for the GED® exam. ABLE classes are provided at convenient times and locations throughout the Vantage Career Center service area and are free of charge.

All new and returning students must attend orientation prior to starting classes.

Vantage Career Center TO GIVE FREE GED PRACTICE TESTS
FOR LIMITED TIME

See for Free program helps students pass the GED test

WHO/WHAT: From September 22 – October 3, 2014, Vantage Career Center is giving away free GED practice tests. Students who take GED Ready can see for free:

  • If they’re ready to pass the GED test
  • The skills they need to work on to pass the test
  • A personalized study plan detailing pages and chapters to study in their favorite study books

Students can also learn about ABLE (Adult Basic and Literacy Education) classes and other resources to help them prepare for the GED test.

Test-takers must first set up an account at www.ged.com and must meet all current eligibility requirements in order to take the test(s). To learn more or to schedule a free GED Ready practice test, contact Vantage Career Center at:  419-238-5411, ext. 2075 or 419-238-5411, ext. 2116. The GED Ready practice test will be available at Vantage Career Center on the following days and times:

Wednesday, September 24; 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Friday, September 26; 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Tuesday, September 30; 5:00 pm - 9:00pm

Wednesday, October 1; 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Please note:  total testing time for the GED Ready practice test is approximately 4 hrs. and includes the following sections:  Reasoning Through Language Arts (75 min.); Math (58 min.); Social Studies (45 min.) and Science (45 min.). Please plan sufficient time to complete your test(s) during the above time periods.


GED®Test information for 2014-15

In January 2014, there were several significant changes in the content, format and cost of the GED® exam. The new test, which is entirely computer - based, includes Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science and Social Studies sections. The cost  is $30 for each section or $120 for the complete test. For residents of Ohio, a voucher is available for first-time test-takers to assist in covering up to $80 of this cost. To participate in the voucher program, test-takers must contact Vantage Career Center for additional guidance and assisitance prior to registering and paying for the test. Vantage Career Center is an authorized Pearson VUE GED® test center. Additional GED® test content and registration information is available at: www.ged.com
