Health Information Management

Health Information Management introduces students to multiple career opportunities in the healthcare administrative setting as well as traditional healthcare careers such as nursing and medical assisting. Students will graduate with the ability to go straight to industry in Health Record departments, administrative roles or medical billing and coding.
In this course, students will learn business skills, human resource skills, Interview skills and personal finance skills. 
Students will be immersed in Medical Terminology including learning how to give injections and taking vitals such as blood pressures and pulses to further your understanding of terminology and how crucial it is to health careers. Students will learn the importance and structure of health insurance and the much needed skill of medical billing and coding. Electronic health record usage and knowledge are vital in today's health market. This course will teach the usage, laws and in-depth hands on training utilizing multiple real-world EHR vendors. Students will graduate with multiple certifications including Billing and Coding Specialist through the National Health Association. 
As a Health Management and information Tech Graduate at Vantage Career Center, a student may join the workforce immediately or further  earning potential with numerous program and college pathways. This program works closely with adult education here at Vantage as well as local colleges to offer college credit and test-out opportunities in those programs.

CBCS - Certified Billing and Coding Specialist

HOSA - Health Occupations Student Organization is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

Vantage Career Center has partnered with Northwest State Community College to offer courses both online and in our building. These are part of College Credit Plus. Students can also opt to attend local campuses to meet academic requirements. Contact Student Services for more information.
