Vantage Career Center held it’s 43rd annual All Boards Dinner on April 8, 2021 where two distinguished graduates, Mr. John Schimmoeller, Ottoville, and Mrs. Kelly (Walls) Lloyd, Mendon-Union, were inducted into the Vantage Alumni Hall of Fame.

Mr. John Schimmoeller, class of 1991, graduated from Ottoville Local School, completing the Carpentry program at Vantage Career Center. John used his skills to begin Schimmoeller Construction in 1993. “Since then he has built the business into one of the most successful and well known construction companies in the area,” his son, and former Vantage alumni, Derrick Schimmoeller commented. In addition to Schimmoeller Construction, John also owns and operates Triple D Enterprises, Comp It Recycling LLC, 3D Pools LTD and farms.

John’s accomplishments go beyond his business ownership, he is also a paramedic and firefighter, currently volunteering with Kalida and American Township Fire Departments. John is also the president of the Board of Public Affairs with the Village of Kalida and an active member of the Kalida Lions Club.

John states, “My family is a huge part of my success. Without my wife Jackie, two sons Derrick and Dylan and daughter Dayna I would not be where I am today.”

Mrs. Kelly (Walls) Lloyd, class of 1977, graduated from Mendon-Union after completing Vantage’s Cooperative Office Education program. Since her graduation, Kelly has used the skills gained at Vantage to make an impact in the business world. Kelly began her career with Eaton Corporation in Van Wert, serving as their Senior Customer Service Representative. In 1994 she transitioned to the Huffy Bicycle Company in Celina where she served as their Human Resources Employment Coordinator until 1998. From 1998 to 2014 Kelly was the AVP Regional Resource Manager and in 2014 transitioned to being the AVP Business Development Manager for First Financial Bank Celina and Rockford, the position she currently holds.

”Kelly is the epitome of an employee owner, driven to take care of not only her clients, but also her coworkers. Kelly’s dependability and work ethic are second to none,” states long-time colleague Corey Scarbrough. “With regards to her consideration for the Vantage Career Center Hall of Fame, Kelly has been and will continue to be a shining example of what the business segment of Vantage Career Center does for the community.”

Kelly has dedicated time back to Van Wert and surrounding areas over the years serving in many capacities and in various organizations. She is on the Auglaize/Mercer Counties YMCA Board of Directors, is a member of the Celina Rotary Club and serves on the Mercer County Revolving Loan Fund Board, which assists with Community Development. In addition, Kelly is a strong supporter of Van Wert County 4-H as a leader of the Venedocia Lad and Lassies, serving on the 4-H County and Endowment Boards. In her free time, she is a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia where she serves on the Endowment Board and as a church Elder.

The inductees were presented with a plaque by Vantage Superintendent Rick Turner and Ohio House Representative Craig Riedel. Each inductee will have their picture hung on the Alumni Hall of Fame wall inside the Vantage building.

The Vantage Career Center Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes graduates who have, through their performance and achievement, brought credit and honor to themselves and to Vantage after graduation. Their exemplary public, personal, and career achievements inspire and provide leadership to future graduates to achieve and serve in the same distinguished manner.
