Cole Dotson, a 2016 graduate of Continental High School and Vantage Career Center made national news when he held a flag off the ground in front of the high school.
He was honored at a flag burning ceremony in Ottawa Wednesday evening.
Last May, Cole became a sensation after picking up a flag in front of his high school off of the ground, and that flag was retired in a burning ceremony held by his Boy Scout troop. The flag was properly disposed of in front of an audience there to give their support to Dotson.
Dotson, who is now a private in the Marine Corps, was happy to see people who were there for him after being away for so long. "It's pretty cool, I just got back to from boot camp and I'm glad everybody's here, that I got to see them. It's weird having a lot of attention, but at the same time, it's pretty cool," Dotson said.
