October Senior & Graduate Spotlight

-Ambassador, NTHS, Honor Roll, Band, Perfect Attendance

-IT Specialist at Paulding County Hospital & Gerdeman’s TV

-BPA Regional Treasurer, State Qualifier, Class Treasurer

-Taking College courses @Vantage thru NWS

-Plans on attending college after graduation, majoring

When speaking of Thomas, his Network Systems teacher, Mr. Regedanz had this to say: “As a senior in Network Systems, Thomas is continuing his strive for perfection from his junior year by demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills that also benefit his fellow students. He is a student ambassador, a classroom aide, and is taking advantage of the college credit plus program while still in high school. He not only has excellent attendance and grades, but also goes out of his way to help other students and even teachers with their technology needs. He is friendly and a natural leader. Thomas is the kind of person that everyone just likes and doesn't think twice about what he needs to do in order to be successful while also encouraging his peers to join him in getting the edge at Vantage.”

As part of the spotlight award we sat down with Thomas for a quick question and answer session:

Who is your favorite teacher & why?

My favorite teacher is Mr. Brown from Ottoville. He's been my favorite teacher since I had him for Algebra I. He is a really good teacher and is the funniest teacher I know.

Describe your current work experience.

I am currently employed part time at Gerdeman's TV in Delphos as a Computer Technician and at Paulding County Hospital as an IT Specialist. I work everyday after school until roughly 6:30, while working Tuesdays and Thursdays at Paulding Co. Hospital.

Has Vantage met your expectations?

Vantage has met and far exceeded my expectations. I have learned so much through Network Systems and my academic classes; not just what I was being taught, but also many life lessons. I have made so many new friends and lasting memories too.

What are your plans after high school?

I plan to attend college after high school in the technology field. I haven't quite decided what degree I'm going to pursue, but I'm leaning towards either Computer Networking or Computer Programming. I'm still looking at my options for what college to attend, though I really enjoyed Indiana Tech.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy programming, working on projects for school, participating in the band at Ottoville, participating in extracurricular activities at Vantage, hanging out with friends, and being on my computer.

What school subject to you enjoy the most?

Math has always been my favorite subject because it's something I have a good understanding of. It's also my favorite because I think it's very useful, especially since I do a lot of computer programming.

2016 Graduate, Lexi Doster from Continental High School has become an integral part of the Central Mutual Insurance team since completing the Medical Office Management program at Vantage last spring.

She has since started full time as a Customer Service Correspondent at Central Mutual Insurance in Van Wert, Ohio.  “Vantage helped me land the internship position at Central by teaching me office etiquette and professionalism. Once I graduated, that position became full time. Vantage also helped me break out of my comfort zone which made me see and reach my potential,” said Lexi.
