Police Academy
Vantage Police Academy provides students with training required by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council (OPOTC) to pursue a career in law enforcement. The program will cover the following mandatory subjects: Firearms, Patrol, Investigation, Administration, Human Relations, Prisoner Booking & Handling, Traffic Enforcement, Legal, Civil Disorders, First Aid, Driving and Unarmed Self-Defense. Advanced training included in the program: O.C. Pepper, ASP Baton, Resume Writing, Hazardous Material Operations and K-9 Operations. Vantage Police Academy runs once a year, beginning in September and concluding before Memorial Day. Applications are accepted each year from April through early August. Classes meet Monday – Thursday from 6:00pm – 10:00pm, plus an average of two weekends per month. After successfully completing the basic training academy, the student will be scheduled for a final examination that is conducted by OPOTC.
