Medical Office Management  introduces students to performing highly specific work requiring knowledge of technical terminology and procedures. Medical administrative assistants prepare correspondence, transcribe dictation and assist with medical histories, insurance, coding, and billing practices. To be a medical office assistant, you must be detail oriented, have accurate keyboarding skills and good customer service skills.Students in this program are eligible to receive college credit for Medical Terminology.  Students will learn to 
  • Develop skills in general office, accounting, systems and procedures, and medical transcription
  • Build knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and anatomy
  • Prepare for a career in a medical or business office

This program offers students the potential to earn any of the following industry recognized credentials. Each exam is worth the points indicated below toward the Industry Credential and Workforce Readiness Ohio pathway to graduation.

CPR/ First Aid -- 1 point
Electronic Health Record Specialist -- 12 points

Vantage Career Center has partnered with Northwest State Community College to offer courses both online and in our building. These are part of College Credit Plus. Students can also opt to attend local campuses to meet academic requirements. Contact Student Services for more information.
